How it works

Acoustic pulses,
precisely placed.

Shockwave is a tool. What makes it work is knowing exactly where to use it and why that spot is overloaded in the first place.

01

Assess

A 15-20 minute Applied Functional Kinesiology assessment looks at posture, gait, joint mechanics and movement patterns to find where the load is going and why.

02

Treat

A handheld applicator with gel delivers rhythmic acoustic pulses to the area. The aim is to reach deeper, stubborn tissue that hands alone struggle to release.

03

Integrate

We follow with soft-tissue work and functional corrections so the change carries into how you move, then agree your after-care and next steps.

Areas we work on

Where does it
keep catching you?

Pick an area to see what we typically look at and what it pairs well with.

Foot, arch & heel

Your feet take every step you do. Standing all day, running or unsupportive footwear can leave the arch and heel area stubbornly tight.

Calf & Achilles

Calves and the Achilles area absorb a lot in runners, jumpers and anyone on their feet. Dense, overworked tissue here can limit your stride.

Knees & shins

Tension around the knee and shin is often linked to how the hip and foot are working, so we look beyond the sore spot.

Hips & glutes

Deep hip and glute tension can restrict stride and rotation. Shockwave can reach layers that are hard to work by hand.

Lower back

Persistent tightness around the lower back is often a sign of how the hips and core share the load. We treat the area and the pattern.

Shoulders & neck

Desk posture, lifting and overhead sports overload the shoulder girdle. We combine targeted pulses with release work.

Elbows & forearms

Gripping, typing and racquet sports load the forearm and elbow tendons day after day.

Stubborn knots

Dense spots that keep coming back after massage are a classic use for focused shockwave.

The Kinezio difference

Not just a device.
A method.

A typical stand-alone session

Shockwave only

  • One protocol applied to everyone
  • Focus only on the sore spot
  • Little or no movement assessment
  • Session ends when the applicator does
  • Limited guidance on what to do next
At Kinezio

Shockwave, the Kinezio way

  • Starts with a 15-20 minute kinesiology assessment
  • Looks at posture, gait and joint mechanics around the area
  • Shockwave placed where the assessment points
  • Combined with soft-tissue work and functional corrections
  • Clear after-care guidance and a plan for next steps
What to expect

No surprises.
You set the pace.

Before

We talk, then we check

We go through your history and goals, assess how you move, and agree the area and the starting intensity together.

During

Rhythmic pulses, your pace

Gel goes on, and the applicator moves over the area with rapid tapping pulses. You can ask us to turn it up, down or stop at any moment.

After

Guidance for the next days

The area can feel warm or a little tender afterwards. We will tell you what to do, what to avoid and how to ease back into training.

Feel the scale

Slide to see how the intensity levels feel. We always start low and move up only with your say-so.

GentleUpper end

Level 1 - Gentle

A light tapping sensation. Used to introduce the feeling and for sensitive areas.

Level 2 - Light

Clear, rhythmic pulses. A common starting point for most areas.

Level 3 - Moderate

A firm, deep pulsing. It can feel intense on tight or overworked spots.

Level 4 - Strong

Strong pressure for stubborn areas. Tenderness is normal, and it is also your cue to tell us to adjust.

Level 5 - Upper end

The top of what you are comfortable with. Never past it: you decide, and we reduce or stop whenever you say.

Questions

Good to know.

What is shockwave therapy?

It is a non-invasive treatment that delivers acoustic pulses through a handheld applicator to a targeted area of the body. It is used to work on dense, stubborn tissue such as tight muscle, fascia and the areas around tendons.

Does it hurt?

It can feel intense, especially on tight or tender spots, and some people describe it as a strong tapping or deep pressure. You stay in control: we start gently and adjust the intensity with you, and we reduce or stop whenever you ask.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on the area, how long it has been an issue and your training load. After your first assessment we will recommend a plan, and we review it as you progress.

How long is a session?

Time depends on the areas treated and whether we combine shockwave with an assessment or massage. The exact duration is confirmed when you book.

Is there any downtime?

Many people go straight back to their day. Depending on the area, we may suggest easing off hard training for a short time. We will tell you what suits you.

Who should not have shockwave?

Some conditions, for example pregnancy, a pacemaker, clotting disorders or blood thinners, open wounds or a recent injection in the area, mean it may not be suitable or that we need your doctor to approve first. We review your health history before every first treatment.

Can I combine it with other therapies?

Yes. Shockwave pairs well with sport massage, localized cryotherapy, red light and BEMER PEMF. We will suggest what makes sense for you.

Is this medical treatment?

No. Our services are wellness services and are not a substitute for medical care. If you have an injury or a medical condition, please consult your doctor first.
